Top Horror Costume Ideas for Couples – Go for a Real Fright Night!
In my post about witches and wizards costumes I explored a few classic costume ideas for couples playing off the atmosphere of the night itself. While I’m not much into the horror side of the occasion, we should do it justice before we move on.
Let’s play with the idea of monsters for a minute…..Hollywood has given us plenty of material to work with here. Going right back, you could do worse than pick up a Quasimodo costume for him and an Esmerelda outfit for here. Not too flattering for the guy, but hey!
Ok, what can we do for classic monster costumes? Two stand out over and over again. We need Vampires and Werewolves. Not necessarily at the same time, but you could play with that if you have even more than two of you to kit out. How about a team or club outing - all wearing Werewolf costumes?
But we’re looking at costume ideas for couples here, so we have to pull back a bit from all that lycanthropy. Several films spring to mind for werewolves alone. How about a play on the Underworld series. He’s hairy and she dresses up in tight leather, I can see that working quite well 
I guess you could hit both werewolf costumes and vampire costumes in one go, if you set your sights on getting hold of a load of Twilight costumes. How much teenage angst can you bear to portray in one night? Just make sure you pay attention to the details of your costume and check out face whitener and accessories.
If you want to try something a bit different, how about a reprise of the late, great Michael Jackson’s Thriller? Again, he gets the hairy face, but the scene setting means that she can put on anything from a 50’s look to a cheerleader outfit and still get pretty close to the right look. Check out Youtube for clips and go for authenticity.
Alright, let’s now look at the Vampire equation. We’re still trying for costume ideas for couples here, so we have to usually go for unrequited love. Twilight based costumes will feature heavily again here, but maybe you could try for a Sookie Stackhouse look from True Blood or how about the ultimate ménage-a-trois if you have a couple of guys around who are prepared to act out scenes from the Vampire Diaries while you play Catherine in a Southern Belle outfit.
Personally, I reckon all these baddies are getting way too much sympathetic press at the moment…I’m sure it’s all a global vampire conspiracy to get us to think they’re cute and cuddly! So just to redress the balance a bit, my last suggestion would be to put those vamps back where they belong and give Buffy back the kudos she deserves. Kit yourself out with a stake called “Mr Pointy” and other gear and smite them mightily.
This is obviously an area where there are a stack of costume ideas for couples, so just stop and track back through a few films and you’ll soon find the right one for you.
