Costumes for Couples – How About Whole New Bodies?
I’ve noticed that quite a lot of great ideas for Halloween costumes for couples have cropped up lately, what with the Hollywood minds constantly offering something new and fresh, especially when it comes to their movies. More specifically the animated or 3D movies which have grown very popular. Hollywood seems to be set on continuing to explore this particular area.
Avatar (by James Cameron) was a great science fiction movie. Many were fascinated with the characters, got inspired and touched by the storyline and marveled at the fact that the makers presented such an original concept. Of course, it’s nice to sit and watch a movie that takes your mind off of the daily stress of reality and busy schedules.
So, as Halloween is getting closer and closer, I thought this film would be a good idea for costumes. Even costumes for couples. And I don’t mean just dressing up as the main characters, but taking the whole idea of the movie and make that as a basis for your get-ups, although I would expect that the only available costumes in the market would be those of the main characters.
I know you’re thinking that, because of the popularity of Avatar, a lot of people, young and old alike, would be borrowing this idea as well. But I think it would be really interesting to see the costumes and th
e makeup, because the look is really quite difficult to pull off. Not only that, but it would present quite a challenge to make your costumes stand out and be different from the rest. Say, you add a few accessories here and there.
For the ladies, if you dress as Neytiri (the female lead), this would add a little more discomfort since this calls for a skin-tight costume…..as is so often the case with women’s costumes.
One slight warning though: this may be a bit uncomfortable, and you would have to test out the makeup to make sure you have no allergic reactions or anything of the sort. Not only the makeup but also the contact lenses, since some people may be allergic to contact lenses. So test them out or have hypoallergenic ones if you can get them. I found the Palpatine contact lenses over at Totally Costumes might do well for the look and they also do a makeup kit with all the right colors here.
Otherwise, go ahead and play the part, with the complete look (and the little details) of the characters in the movie and you should be able to get both male and female Avatar costumes for couples.
